The World Potato Congress (WPC) has confirmed that Kenya will host the 2026 edition, a decision reached after reaching an agreement with the Polish Federation, as the event was originally scheduled for Gdansk, Poland.
The company, located in the Industrial Park, is entering the final stages of construction. It will explore how one of the world’s largest plants will operate.
The most important potato exhibition in the interior of the country, Agro Papa, will be held again this year on the same site adjacent to the town of Piquillín where it was held in its previous edition.
The shortage of domestic potatoes is leading to massive imports of the tuber.
"We are evaluating the adaptive and response capacity of potato producers in the state of Mérida to various diseases," said Carla Chacón, a sociologist with the ASA Directorate.
The Foundation for the Development of Science and Technology (Fundacite) of Falcón state and the Corporation for Scientific and Technological Development (Codecyt) held the workshop "Flavors and Knowledge of Potato Cultivation."
Adverse weather has affected the harvests in the A Limia region in recent seasons.
Researcher Carlos Marfil, from the National Institute of Agricultural Technology, is working with producers in Tupungato on a program to improve this crop.
