The Potato Producers Consortium (CONPAPA), which consists of 300 farmers directly and another 2,000 in seven districts of the province, inaugurated its plant to clean and sort tubers in Riobamba a few days ago.
The emerging results of the previous year’s Brandenburg potato harvest is not likely to be repeated in 2015. In 2014 they harvested a total of 420,000 tons and and in this year they have only been able to harvest 322,500 of potatoes.
Chris Voigt, executive director of the Washington State Potato Commission, said the 2015 harvest has generally been picture perfect. “This was one of the smoothest harvest seasons we’ve had in Washington,” he told The Produce News.
