Ucrania: 12-fold increase in Ukraine’s potato imports
In the period from January to March this year, Ukraine imported 120.4 thousand tons of potatoes worth $ 21.6 million, which is over …

...12 times more than in the same period last year ($ 1.7 million), as revealed by the data published by the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
This increase in potato imports was mostly a result of the huge growth of shipments from Belarus. In the first three months of 2020, Ukraine’s purchases from this country were worth $ 13.96 million, compared to just $ 0.34 million in the same period of 2019. The country now ranks first when it comes to the volume of potatoes delivered to Ukraine, with a share of 65%.
The second place in the ranking was for Russia, with a share of 20.8%. The value of the potatoes purchased from this country in the first three months of 2020 increased by $ 4.5 million compared to the same period last year.
The Netherlands took the third place, with a 6.3% share and potato shipments worth $ 1.36 million.
It is worth recalling the Ukrainian producers have again been forced to lower the prices of their products due to the rather low demand in the potato segment.
