McCain is boosting its sustainability plan and plans to expand into Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia.

McCain Foods published its 2025 Sustainability Report, highlighting significant progress in reducing emissions, implementing regenerative farming practices, and strengthening support for communities.

The company has made significant progress in its climate management, notably achieving a 28% absolute reduction in its Scope 1 and 2 emissions compared to 2017, along with the fact that 60% of its electricity consumption now comes from renewable sources. Furthermore, 98% of its packaging is designed to be recyclable, reinforcing its environmental commitment.

Regenerative agriculture remains a key strategic pillar. Currently, 69% of the land cultivated by its growers participates in its Regenerative Agriculture Framework, and 44% has reached the "Engaged" level. The company aims to implement this regenerative approach on 100% of its potato-growing hectares by 2030.

In terms of water efficiency, a 19% improvement in water use was reported in regions affected by water stress since 2017, thus exceeding the targets set for 2025.

On the other hand, in the social sphere, the company made donations equivalent to 34.4 million meals and led more than 28,000 hours of volunteering during the last year.

In Argentina, it plans to open new "innovation farms" by 2026, including one unit as part of the expansion of its global network of demonstration farms dedicated to regenerative agriculture. These new facilities will serve as open experimental centers to explore local solutions focused on soil improvement, water conservation, and emissions reduction.

In Brazil, it already occupies an active place within regenerative efforts. McCain collaborated with local farmers to structure a multi-year program focused on regenerative agriculture, whose launch is projected for 2026. In parallel, research is being carried out on Brazilian farms in partnership with academic institutions.

Finally, in Colombia, it is also part of innovative pilot projects related to smart irrigation systems. Developed in collaboration with technology companies, these programs cover seven countries and aim to optimize water use while strengthening productive capacity in the face of water stress scenarios.

With its commitments set for 2030 and objectives aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), McCain reaffirms its focus on building a more resilient food system. To this end, it integrates agricultural innovation, climate action, and territorial development, positioning Latin America as a strategic region in this transition.
