Argentina: Cinco Hispanos, a potato snack producer, will build a multipurpose plant in Balcarce

A food company announced the construction of a multipurpose plant in Balcarce, with the aim of integrating agricultural production, optimizing logistics and strengthening the value chain starting in 2026.

Cinco Hispanos Compañía de Alimentos confirmed one of its most significant investments: the construction of a new multipurpose plant in the city of Balcarce, a strategic hub in the productive Southeast of Buenos Aires province.  The project, slated to begin in 2026, represents a milestone in the integration of industry and primary production.

The initiative will be developed on a 7.5-hectare site located a few meters from the intersection of National Route 226 and Provincial Route 55, a strategic area for agro-industrial logistics.  This area is at the heart of the country’s main raw potato producing region, a key ingredient for the company’s snack business.

The company explained that the new plant is part of a vertical integration strategy aimed at ensuring the supply of raw materials, reducing logistics costs, and raising quality standards from the source.  The project is designed with a five-year growth vision and will be structured in two well-defined phases.

The first phase, planned between 2026 and 2028, will focus on strengthening agricultural and logistical capacity.  In this stage, approximately 50% of the land will be allocated to critical infrastructure, such as raw potato storage and conditioning facilities, cold storage systems, an agricultural machinery center, and areas dedicated to management, quality control, and research and development.

This first phase of the project will also have a direct impact on regional employment, generating more than 15 skilled jobs.  These will be linked to operational, technical, and management tasks, so the investment not only aims to strengthen the company’s competitiveness but also to boost the local economy.

The second phase involves planned industrial expansion,  incorporating new manufacturing lines to support business growth and evolving demand, while maintaining the flexibility to adapt to different production scenarios.

This plant is not just an infrastructure investment; it’s the cornerstone of our growth strategy for the next decade ," stated Eduardo López, CEO of Cinco Hispanos. According to the executive, the project will improve logistical efficiency, ensure quality from the field, and provide the installed capacity to scale production quickly and competitively.

This proposal seeks to advance towards models of greater integration between primary production and industry to gain efficiency, predictability, and competitiveness.  In a context of high logistics costs and strong competition, investments of this kind not only strengthen companies but also consolidate key production areas, reinforcing the link between agriculture and industry as the engine of national agricultural development.
