Argentina: An Argentine family business was recognized by PepsiCo worldwide for promoting positive agriculture.
In recent days, PepsiCo recognized the key figures behind its food system at the inaugural Global Farmer Awards, held at the company’s headquarters in New York.
Among nearly 60 producers, farming families, and advisors from 19 countries, El Parque Papas, in Comandante Nicanor Otamendi, was recognized with the Positive Agriculture Award for its commitment to sustainability and its contribution to the goals of pep+ (PepsiCo Positive): the company’s comprehensive transformation that places sustainability at the center of its business strategy.
“Our work begins with producers. They are the heart of our value chain and the foundation of the global food system. These awards seek to recognize their efforts, highlight the innovations they drive, and reinforce our shared commitment to building a more resilient, sustainable, and inclusive agricultural system,” said Ramon Laguarta, Chairman & CEO of PepsiCo.
Parque Papas, led by Walter Hernández, has been dedicated to potato production for over three decades and works with PepsiCo to implement regenerative practices, improvements in water efficiency, and technologies that promote more sustainable cultivation.
“At PepsiCo Argentina, we are proud that El Parque Papas has been recognized globally. This award reflects Walter and his entire team’s commitment to regenerative agriculture and the constant pursuit of better production while protecting the soil and the environment,” said Guillermo Cascardo, Agribusiness Manager at PepsiCo Argentina.
“We are very happy and grateful for this recognition, which fills us with pride and gives us the strength to continue growing. We are a family business that has been working the land for many years, always hand in hand with PepsiCo, and seeing that this effort is valued is, for us, a great satisfaction,” said Walter Hernández, owner and CEO of El Parque Papas. “From the beginning, we have been committed to good agricultural practices, technology, efficiency, regenerative practices, and the use of low-carbon fertilizers, convinced that this is the path to more sustainable agriculture. This award reaffirms that we are on the right path. Behind every step we take is the teamwork of El Parque Papas and PepsiCo, and the commitment to the place where we were born and raised: Comandante Nicanor Otamendi,” he added.
The Global Farmer Awards took place just months after PepsiCo expanded its Positive Farming mission, aiming to implement regenerative and protective practices on 10 million acres by 2030, of which more than 3.5 million have already been reached globally. Through investments in training, technology, and strategic partnerships, the company continues to drive improvements in soil health, biodiversity, and water stewardship throughout its production chain.
