Panama: Overproduction causes potato and onion prices to plummet in the countryside.
The current oversupply keeps hundreds of families who depend on these items in a state of uncertainty.

Producers in the Tierras Altas region warned that the prices they currently receive per pound of potatoes and onions in the field are so low that they are not enough to cover production costs, which puts the sustainability of agricultural activity in the region at risk.
According to reports, overproduction has led to a drop in prices, with potatoes in some cases selling for 25 cents or less per pound, while onions are sold for 35 to 40 cents per pound in the field.
"We feel threatened because we’re not recovering our costs, and we can’t continue in this business," said Lorenzo Jiménez, a producer from Tierras Altas.
