Paraguay: First production of early domestic potato of the Spunta variety
Within the framework of the Family Farming Fair held today on the Costanera in Asunción, the first batch of early domestic potatoes of the Spunta variety was presented and was a resounding success.

"We have the first harvest of early potatoes of the spunta variety," explained Atilio Ramírez, an extension technician with the Agricultural Extension Directorate. Seeds delivered last year by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock were used.
He commented that with the MAG, in order to avoid waste, they had the option of saving six bags of potato seeds to be able to do an experiment .
"We already have our first agricultural fair sale in the Choré district at the departmental level with local production, and this is the first potato production we were able to achieve at the Asunción fair," he explained.
He added that the sales success today on the Costanera was complete. It’s an organic product , and the scarcity in the local market could contribute to its success. "It needs a cold storage, " he concluded. Prices range between 700 and 1,000 G.
