Morocco: Potato prices are rising
Potato prices continue to soar in most markets across the country. This Saturday morning, a kilogram was selling for 7 dirhams.

This surge in prices at this time of year has sparked anger among Moroccan citizens, for whom potatoes are a widely consumed staple food.
A trader at the Casablanca wholesale market, interviewed by Site Info , indicated that last year, the price per kilogram did not exceed 3 dirhams, while today it exceeds 7 dirhams.
According to him, this sudden increase is explained in particular by the drought and the decline in production. He also pointed out certain factors that he considers worrying, such as market speculation and the intervention of intermediaries ("chnaqa").
