World Trade: Royal HZPC achieves record turnover
The seed potato breeder and marketer Royal HZPC Group will close the 2024/2025 financial year with exceptional results.

Royal HZPC Group is expected to surpass the €500 million mark in global sales, with a global volume exceeding one million tons. These record sales will be accompanied by significant profit increases and high clearance prices for producers.
Driven by strong demand for high-quality and resilient potato varieties, the company is experiencing positive sales and price developments in all its key markets. CEO Hans Huistra states: “Our turnover will exceed €500 million, representing clear growth compared to 2023/2024. Furthermore, we will achieve a higher gross margin, substantially higher profits, and will be able to offer high clearance prices to our growers. These are achievements we are proud of.”
Most of the growth comes from protected varieties. “We consciously invest in R&D to bring ever-improving varieties to market. It’s gratifying that this translates into profitability and sales growth in almost all markets. This increase comes from both physical sales of seed potatoes and licensed volumes.”
Connection and growth
Starting July 1, 2025, Royal HZPC Group will implement several changes to strengthen collaboration with its producers and customers. “We have made adjustments to the group’s leadership structure,” explains the executive. “These changes will allow us to be closer to farmers and customers, expand our cultivated area, and develop better potato varieties adapted to diverse global climatic conditions. This is a solid foundation for improving performance and continuing growth.”
Within the management team, Peter Ton will assume responsibility for the Europe, Middle East, and North Africa region for the HZPC and STET businesses, which will continue to operate independently under the Royal HZPC Group brand.
Herman Verveld will lead global markets, including Asia, the Americas, and Africa, and Robert Graveland will continue to lead Research and Development.
Contribution to global food security
“A very important milestone is that we expect to surpass one million tons of seed potatoes,” Huistra adds. “Royal HZPC Group’s vision is to contribute to the development of responsible food for the world’s population. This mission is our greatest daily motivation.”
With this volume, the company actively contributes to agriculture and food supply in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Its varieties are used as starting material for local potato cultivation, an ideal food for feeding the world’s population thanks to its high yield per hectare, nutritional value, low water requirements, and ability to adapt to almost any environment.
