Italy: Emilia Romagna, over 108 million euros of funds to support fruit and vegetables and potatoes
Improved production, low environmental impact techniques, investments to address the consequences of climate change and to position ourselves strategically on the markets.

These are the main areas financed for 2025 with over 108 million euros of European funds, in synergy with producer organizations, and their associations in the fruit and vegetable and potato sectors.
The resources come from the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF), supporting sectoral interventions in fruit and vegetables and potatoes as provided for by the strategic programme of the Common Agricultural Policy. The aid is intended for Producer Organisations and Associations of Producer Organisations in the fruit and vegetables and potatoes sectors recognised by the Emilia-Romagna Region for the expenditure approved in the 11 Operational Programmes presented.
"This financing plan represents a decisive push to support the income of regional fruit and vegetable businesses and supply chains and the potato sector - underlines the Councilor for Agriculture and Relations with the EU, Alessio Mammi (in the photo) -. The attention of the interventions is directed in particular to technological innovation, environmental sustainability and competitiveness on the markets. Actions that are increasingly necessary at a time when the difficulties linked to climate change and adverse factors are heavily affecting the sector. The commitment of the EU and the Region - concludes the Councilor - confirm the centrality of the agricultural sector in the transition towards more responsible and sustainable production models".
Fruit and vegetables: investments for 105.9 million euros
The fruit and vegetable sector benefits from the largest share of funds with 105.9 million euros in support of eight operational programmes presented by seven AOPs (including 38 Organisations from different Regions) and one single Organisation. The total planned expenditure is 199.4 million euros and covers a wide range of interventions.
More than 43% of the budget is earmarked for improving the quality of primary agricultural production. The interventions include the purchase of innovative equipment, irrigation and anti-hail systems, the renewal of fruit-growing systems and the adoption of integrated production techniques with low environmental impact.
System actions receive almost 41% of the funds, with the aim of supporting the marketing of production. The interventions include investments in machinery for post-harvest management, projects to address climate change, market crisis prevention activities and promotional initiatives. Finally, 16% of the expenditure is allocated to quality control activities, marketing and technical support for the adoption of sustainable agricultural techniques.
Potatoes: Funds for 2.3 million euros
The potato sector also receives significant support with 2.3 million euros for three approved operational programs. 257 agricultural producers are involved, mainly located in Emilia-Romagna, and they expect a total expenditure of 3.8 million euros.
Over 50% of the resources are allocated to actions to improve marketing and product promotion. About 34% of the funds are used for sustainable agricultural techniques and the purchase of harvesting machinery. The remaining 14% is reserved for quality control activities and technical support to agricultural companies for the adoption of low environmental impact technologies.
