EEUU: The non-traditional path to successful potato farming
Reed Searle, an Eastern Idaho potato farmer located in Shelley, Idaho is featured in this edition of Eagle Eye Produce’s Grower Spotlight.
Searle has been farming since 1972 and in 1998 he made the decision a long time ago to grow red and yellow potatoes and the risk paid off, according to the video.
Searle comes from a family history of potato farming and decided to step away from the tradition to be a dentist. After completing one dentistry course Searle decided maybe potato farming was the life for him.
In 1994 Searle took over the family farm and in the late 90’s teamed up with Eagle Eye Produce.
"I chose to be a farmer because I had so much fun when I was a kid and it carried over. I love the challenge and I love to do new things," Searle said in the video. "Every morning when I wake up, it is not the same thing."
