Colombia (Cundinamarca): Where and how to buy potatoes without intermediaries
This strategy, called Cundipapa, seeks to connect farmers directly with consumers, without intermediaries that reduce profits.

Potatoes play a key role in Cundinamarca ’s rural economy . Thousands of farming families depend on this crop, and they are currently facing a crisis due to low market prices.
Faced with this situation, the Cundinamarca Governor’s Office decided to act. Together with the Marketing Agency, it launched a commercial offensive to stem the decline in the income of the paper industry and restore value to an essential product on Colombian tables. Farmers’ markets in Bogotá and neighboring municipalities
One of Cundipapa’s most visible actions will be the holding of 50 farmers’ markets over three weeks. These sales points will be distributed in Bogotá towns and municipalities in the department that do not produce potatoes.
By bringing urban buyers closer to farmers, farmers can benefit from these sales without relying on large retailers and consume products grown on Cundinamarcan land.
Selling potatoes at toll booths: a returning strategy
As part of the campaign, a method that proved successful during the pandemic will be revived: selling potatoes at toll booths. This tactic once helped relieve congestion in warehouses and sustain farmers’ incomes.
