In Comarapa, Santa Cruz department, 259 tillers were delivered to seven communities to strengthen potato production, one of the region’s key crops.
The beneficiary farming families reach 259 communities in Abra de Capillas, Capillas, Churo, La Tranca, Punilla, Siberia, and Tunas Pampa. The goal is to increase potato production from 453 tons to 1,339 tons in 18 months.
The project has been funded with Bs 3,607,096.78, of which the Indigenous Development Fund (FDI) contributed Bs 2,000,000.00, the Comarapa Mayor’s Office contributed Bs 114,100, and the beneficiaries contributed Bs 1,492,996.78.
The acquisition of motorized tillers not only represents a technological improvement, but also a strategy to reduce production costs and increase agricultural efficiency.
FDI Director Delicia Rossio López highlighted the direct impact this initiative has on the local economy.
"This delivery isn’t just machinery; it’s a tool for hope and transformation. With it, we strengthen food sovereignty and demonstrate that we are capable of feeding our people," he stated.
For the mayor of Comarapa, Jhonny Vocal, the project is the result of collaborative work between the central government and municipal authorities.
"Our communities now have good tools to improve their harvests and incomes. We will continue to manage more projects so that productive development reaches every corner of Comarapa," he stated.
