Argentina: Lamb Weston will train and provide technical equipment for potato producers in Mar del Plata

The company, which is developing the most modern potato processing plant in Latin America, invited local producers to see the progress of the project and announced new support programs.

Lamb Weston, the leading company in frozen French fries, sweet potatoes, snacks and vegetable products, invited a group of potato producers to its new plant in Mar del Plata to show them the progress of the work and announce a series of actions that will contribute to improving their daily work. The company, which is building the most modern potato processing plant in Latin America, will offer technical training, agro-industrial equipment and professional advice to producers in the cities of Mar del Plata, Balcarce and Tandil.

During the tour, local producers were able to see the new potato storage chambers, the storages and the rest of the facilities on the site. In addition, company executives presented the variety of seeds aligned with the implementation of best practices and talks were organized on innovation, new industry trends and sustainability.

“Local producers are key to the company, as they are the ones who, alongside us, drive local employment and the economy through responsible practices and a strengthened value chain. Their work guarantees quality products and reinforces our commitment to sustainable development,” said Romina Broda, VP Latam at Lamb Weston.

In the first weeks of February, 150 new people have already joined the new plant in Mar del Plata, which will generate a total of 255 direct jobs among administrative, technical, engineering and operator staff, and 3,000 jobs for third parties, including producers, transporters and the staff of the city’s Port.

When the new plant begins production, it will turn the country’s operations into a regional export hub, with Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia as the main destinations. The installation of the new plant implies a new evolution in efficient and sustainable practices: in addition to generating minimal waste, the most modern infrastructure in Latin America will guarantee that natural resource consumption is reduced to a minimum.
