Cuba: In Yara they seek to improve the yields of their potato crops
Farmers from productive bases in Yara are working to increase yields in the 59 hectares planted with potatoes, in the municipal agro-industrial company Paquito Rosales, responsible for producing the tuber that the population will consume.

Achieving yields of between 19 and 20 tons per hectare is possible with the rigorous care that the plantations receive, reported Iramis Vargas Díaz, provincial agricultural subdelegate, in statements to La Demajagua.
He described the germination of the crop to date as favorable, despite the limitations with irrigation under the central pivot machines, affected by the energy situation.
Potato plantations have returned to the Granma countryside after several years without being planted here, now with the aim of guaranteeing three pounds to each inhabitant of this territory.
Until 2024, the product was transported by road or rail from other provinces, with gradual deterioration, which had an impact on losses and quality in its marketing.
