Mexico (Los Mochis): Support with digital control tower for potato crops in Ahome
The digital agricultural control tower is the first of its kind in PepsiCo Latin America and represents one of the most significant advances in the company’s digitalization agenda.
More than a year after its inauguration, PepsiCo Mexico’s digital agricultural control tower, located in Los Mochis, provides support to more than 30 potato producers and has a positive impact on more than nine thousand hectares, equivalent to more than 12 thousand soccer fields.
The state-of-the-art facility allows crops to be monitored more accurately, ensures high-quality harvests and facilitates the implementation of regenerative agriculture practices, the statement said.
The digital agricultural control tower is the first of its kind in PepsiCo Latin America and represents one of the most significant advances in the company’s digitalization agenda.
During its first year of operation, it has provided a comprehensive view of the various technologies used by the Agro team.
Thanks to this platform, it has been possible to correlate the variables provided by soil scanners, drones and other devices, thereby identifying potential risks to crops in a timely manner.
The use of satellite images, agronomic drones, humidity sensors and databases optimized with artificial intelligence, when analyzed together, provides accurate information on crop development, temperature and water use.
This allows the company and its allied producers to lead the digital transformation of the Mexican countryside, while making more sustainable and efficient decisions.
“Thanks to the technologies applied by PepsiCo Mexico in the field, the potatoes used for Sabritas are produced in a more sustainable way, in line with the commitment to optimize their cultivation, take care of natural resources and reduce the carbon footprint in Mexican fields,” said Servando Valdez, senior director of Agro at PepsiCo Latam.
In 2024, this platform became a fundamental component of the company’s prevention strategy against weather phenomena, while also allowing it to integrate solutions to predict, with greater precision and in the long term, the risks associated with the weather.
Through its digitalization strategy for the Mexican countryside, PepsiCo Mexico is advancing the objectives of its Positive Agriculture agenda, whose central goal is the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices throughout its agricultural footprint.
Thanks to the use of these technologies, the company adopts the highest standards in terms of efficiency in terms of water use and the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG).
Thus, its focus on sustainability and collaboration with its farmer partners are fundamental pillars to continue innovating towards a more sustainable and prosperous agricultural future.
