Uruguay: The area designated for potato cultivation in the autumn harvest of 2026 has increased by 18% compared to the year 2025.

The 2,530 hectares were sown using 7,014 tons of seed, indicating an average sowing density of 2.8 t/ha. Regarding the origin of the seed, 83.2% of the cultivated area was sown with seed from the farm’s own stock, 0.2% with purchased domestic seed, and the remaining 16.6% with imported seed.
