The meeting was an important opportunity to introduce the organization to Mr. Alf de Wit and Ms. Inge Horsmeier, representatives of the Dutch government, and to provide updates on ongoing actions related to potato seeds.

During the meeting, phytosanitary requirements for importing potato seed from the Netherlands were discussed, an issue that ABCSEM has been closely monitoring within the framework of the Potato Seed Working Group. The discussions aim to harmonize procedures and ensure greater efficiency and security in trade, thereby strengthening technical trust between the two countries.

Dutch representatives reported that a visit by the Dutch Secretary of Defense to Brazil is planned for a meeting with the Department of Plant Health of the Ministry of Agriculture (DSV/MAPA), with the aim of discussing technical aspects related to plant and animal health.

Also mentioned was a memorandum of understanding between the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture and MAPA, which provides for the creation of a Technical Working Group (TWG) focused on cooperation in the areas of innovation, sustainability and regulatory improvement.

The partnership between Brazil and the Netherlands is strategic for the advancement of horticulture and for the development of solutions in the production of seeds and seedlings.
