Argentina (Mendoza): INTA Rama Caída is conducting a health survey in potato crops to detect possible viral diseases.
INTA representatives emphasized that the results will provide a solid epidemiological basis, essential for refining and validating diagnostic methodologies.
The Plant Protection team of the EEA INTA Rama Caída carried out a health survey in potato crops in southern Mendoza, with the aim of detecting and sampling plants that present symptoms compatible with viropsis.
During field inspections, characteristic signs such as mild and severe mosaic, leaf roughness, leaf curling, and stunting in young plants were recorded. Tissue samples were taken from specimens exhibiting these symptoms following established protocols, and chlorophyll levels were also recorded.

INTA highlighted that the results will provide a precise epidemiological baseline, key to improving and validating diagnostic methodologies, optimizing time and resources in the health management of the crop.
The task is part of research and monitoring actions aimed at strengthening production and anticipating health problems that may impact the yield and quality of potatoes.
