France: Why producers and industrialists are getting angry about the price of potatoes
Potato producers are warning of the ridiculously low prices of processing potatoes on the market. However, these prices do not apply to the vast majority of potatoes processed by the agri-food industry.

Producers and manufacturers are at odds over the potato issue. As the harvest of tubers destined for the industry draws to a close, the UNPT, which represents growers, denounced at the end of August the "destructive" prices offered by the industry, with offers "close to zero euros per ton."
On September 2, French manufacturers counterattacked through their association, the FNTPT: "the volumes actually traded at low prices are negligible and do not reflect the average price paid to the producer," the press release reads. Behind the scenes, the UNPT’s publicity stunt, which received widespread media coverage, is going down badly.
