Brazil: Rain in São Paulo markets reduces supply at wholesalers
Wholesale sales in Rio de Janeiro registered an increase of almost 30% in the week
This week (July 28 to August 1), average prices for special agate potatoes were R$45/sc in the wholesale markets of São Paulo (+21.9%), R$46/sc in the wholesale markets of Belo Horizonte (MG) (+25.4%) and R$48/sc in the wholesale markets of Rio de Janeiro (+29.8%).
Rains in Vargem Grande do Sul (SP) and southwest São Paulo on Monday the 28th hampered the harvest and reduced supply in wholesale markets, driving up prices.
Despite expectations of higher demand next week due to the start of the month and the return to school, prices could drop if the forecast for stable weather in current producing regions is confirmed, which would increase supply.
