Canadá: Canadian potato production for 2021 estimated at 123 mln hundredweight
Potato production in Canada for the year 2021, is estimated at 123,054,000 hundred weight. This is up 18.9 million hundred weight or 18.2% above 2020 (which had very low production in the two Eastern provinces).

Higher production was expected as Canadian growers responded to increased demand, (particularly processing), and expanded acreage by 26,500 acres to meet those needs. Canadian yields increased to 322cwt./acre from 293cwt./acre in 2020. Excellent harvest conditions allowed almost 99% of the planted crop to be harvested this year.
Prince Edward IslandStats Canada estimates production at 28,510,000 hundred weight, up 35.8% from last year’s 21,000,000cwt. (a crop which suffered from a severe drought). Yield per acre is estimated at 334cwt./acre making it the highest yield on record. An excellent growing season was responsible for a big portion of the increased production. PEI had the largest planted acreage in Canada with 86,000 acres reported this year and the province produced 23% of Canadian Production.
Nova ScotiaProduction is estimated to be up 19% above 2020, at 357,000 hundred weight. Estimated yields of 310cwt./acre are up substantially from last year’s 250cwt./acre. Planted acreage stayed the same as last year at 1,200 acres.
