Panama: Agreement seeks to strengthen onion production
This agreement signed between the Technical Secretariat of MIDA and IDIAP includes the development of training, field days and a series of demonstration projects
In the context of the project “Agronomic innovation for the sustainability and resilience of onion cultivation in the Central Pacific of Panama”, officials from the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) of the provinces of Los Santos and Coclé participated in a technical meeting together with the Institute of Agricultural Innovation of Panama (IDIAP) and local producers.
As part of the activities, a visit was made to the crop plots, observing that it is in the bulb filling phase, 70 days after transplanting, which reflects optimal development.
The agreement established between the Technical Secretariat of the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) and the Institute for Agricultural Research (IDIAP) includes the implementation of training programs, field days, and demonstration projects, the purpose of which is to strengthen the quality of onion production in these regions. It also aims to equip producers with advanced knowledge and techniques to improve their operations.
With initiatives like these, the institution reaffirms its commitment to farmers in both provinces and the rest of the country, promoting sustainable agricultural practices and ensuring high-quality production.
