Technical Information: With Verno, protected cultivation with a sustainable seal

Protecting potato crops from diseases in wet years is key to maintaining a healthy leaf surface that can generate photoassimilates to achieve higher crop yields.

With the aim of protecting under the concept of "there is another way" promoted by Brometan, for several campaigns they have been positioning Verno (Copper+Zinc) with a preventive effect against disease attacks.

“Copper acts as a fungicide and bactericide, inhibiting the growth of diseases in the crop. Verno provides residual activity and acts by contact. It has a multi-site effect, making it a very interesting tool for protecting the crop in resistance management. Furthermore, it doesn’t suffer significant losses due to irrigation or rain, as occurs with other contact-based molecules; it has excellent adhesion and persistence,” explains Federico Sassano, the company’s development manager.

Agronomist Carlos Tajan, head of potato cultivation at Brometan, emphasizes that “Verno is a sustainable tool because, by replacing some applications of traditionally used contact fungicides, we have managed to reduce the EIQ (Environmental Impact Quotient) in order to achieve more environmentally friendly production, something that is increasingly demanded each season.” He adds that “Verno is registered as organic by SENASA, is easy to handle, and requires low doses per hectare.”
